Can I install aftermarket tow mirrors to my 14 f150 that have power fold option, if my truck didn't come with power fold option ? Thanks in advance.... tonebone

Based on my experience with OEM tow mirrors vs "regular" OEM mirrors when purchasing my 2014 Lariat, you might have issues there. Long story short, in my particular experience I was told that there is a different module and harness for the tow mirrors in the truck. I think it might have to do with controlling the memory mirror position, mirror extension, and heat application on remote start in that particular trim line. Having said that, since the module is different between the two mirror types on my trim line, there exists a high probability that you might be missing the wiring harness or module to make the fold feature happen in your scenario with OEM wiring and after market mirrors. I would first start with finding out if your wiring harness is the same as those where power-fold feature is present.

This is only speculation on my behalf, based on what I know from the research on my purchase.

 

1Aauto has a set with a harness to get power fold on a truck that did not come from the factory with it.

I've been running a set of their mirrors on another truck of mine for almost 4 years now and they are awesome quality!

 

Appreciate the info. Once you have tow mirrors it's hard to go back and that is an upgrade that is definitely on the list. Power fold is a must in my carport my regular mirrors barely clear as is.
