1950 Ford F1 spring clamp bolts

Picked up a pair of heavy duty F1 springs from Chuck a few months ago, and getting ready to put them on. Was going to paint them black and then change the bolts out to be matching on each side, one side is longer right now. Are the nuts on the spring clamps lock nuts? The parts book does not mention a lock washer, but it seems like standard nuts would come off pretty fast. There are a total of 8 clamps, 4 on each side.

A common practice is to hammer a thread where the nut can not come off the bolt. Those clamps should be loose enough to not bind the spring leaves.
