P.arts parts wheres my parts.
Hi all, I'm bored so I thought I would post about it. You may or may not be wondering what ever happened to my new head project. Well its done, at least I think it is, I'm not quite sure. When I fired it up I discovered that both heads have 2 thermactor holes that need to be plugged if your not running smog, which I didn't know, so yes it was noisy. I very temporarily used some tape to plug them so I could listen to the engine without exhaust leaking out the holes. Well the engine and new valve train sound good, but not unxpectantly I had some smoke out both tail pipes, not oil and not coolant so I'm thinking, hoping, its just coatings and gasket edges burning off . The drivers side stopped after a few minutes and then my temporary. tape over the thermactor holes blew off and I shut it down. Now Ive been waiting for some plugs I ordered to come so I can proceed, hoping that the other head also burns off and after a few more minutes. I think weather has had a big effect on the shipping around the country, so Here I sit bored, full of anxiety, boring you guys with this silly post . Well that's it for now from Paradise Ca. Thanks for listening. Oh yeah to re-torque head bolts or not, bolts are ARP not pre stretched ones.

Here in LA LA Land, we've gotten more rain in December & January than we got in all of 2014 & 2015!
It's not raining now, but more rain is predicted for tonight and tomorrow.
btw: I assume y'all know that the bed wood was originally painted the same color as the body.

Today is the first decent day in awhile up here in the foothills, last night was a mix of snow and rain, b4 that cold blowing rain, rain, rain. Roy, nice looking bed wood . Bill, are they having trouble with mud slides after last years wild fires? I'm so thankful to have a home, so many don't. Been there done that, no fun at all.

Of course, some people don't want to leave and cannot be forced to...by the police and/or fire dept's.
All the local TV channels ran a video over and over again yesterday showing a couple trapped inside their 2015 (or 2016) F150 S/Cab near the Cajon Pass (north of San Berdoo).
Couple drove into an flooded intersection, the water was deeper than they thought (typical!), were rescued after climbing out the window into a F/D rescue raft.

Jimmy, It looks like they are available on Amazon too:

Years ago a friend of mine had a 1968 Ford Torino GT convertible with a 390 engine. It had one of those air injection ports on each cylinder. Before installing the plugs we had to remove a tube that fit inside. As I remember they were about 2" long. I made a tool out of a piece of coat hanger and was able to pull each one out. We had some difficulty on two of the cylinders as there was a buildup of residue around the outside which made them difficult to pull out. You can see them in this diagram as part #9A484. I'm not sure if your 302 has them but you might want to check.
They needed to be removed as we were told that the heads would overheat damaging the valve guides if you left them in. I'm not sure if that was true but certainly made sense as they stuck down into the exhaust outlet causing a restriction.
Tube 9A484 should be removed
