Zf-6 problems, advice needed

Ok, my clutch has been giving me trouble for a little bit and I'm almost positive that I have a bent release fork. It also slips under heavy acceleration in 6th gear. I am planning on doing a clutch, compete with flywheel and release fork and a new rear main seal. My problem is, here within the last couple of days the trans would pop out of 4th gear if I was just coasting. It has been getting noisy over the last few weeks also. I'm no manual tyranny expert, but this is making me think I'm gonna need to have it rebuilt. Does anyone know of a transmission shop that will build a ZF-6 stronger than stock?

Depending on your location (help us out a bit here if you want), this place is said to be top notch too.

Welcome to All Star Standard Transmission!

I'm about 45 minutes west of Stl Mo. But willing to ship it to get a quality rebuild.

I'm actually pretty close to an Inland Truck Parts. I'll stop there on the way home tomorrow and see what they charge.

In the meantime, make sure your fluid is topped off. When they get low, it doesn't take long for the bearings to start growling and start seizing up. It will cost much more to rebuild if it locks up.

Ok, got a little sticker shock at Inland Truck Parts. They estimate a ZF-6 rebuild at about $3800.00, and that's me bringing get the transmission to them.

Wow, that seems a bit much, guess your next step is to call some of the places listed above to see what you can find out?

Not sure if this is exactly what you need, I found this under the "new transmission" section, not rebuilt. So, it seems that Midwest has much better prices from the get go.

Also, I believe this is the link to the other shop Timmyboy76 mentioned. http://www.joestransmission.net/

Midwest Trans certainly seems cheaper. I'll have to give Joe's a call and see what they charge also. I've seen a few on Ebay for between $1,500- $1,800. Not sure about the sellers though.
