1999 e350 7.3 POwerstoke wont start after new plugs

Hello everyone i really need some help.

I have a 1999 Ford e350 7.3 powerstroke with 140000KMs on it.

The truck cranks really well but it just wont fire off, not even with a shot of starting fluid.

I recently changed all 8 glow plugs, fuel filter, fuel, oil and I keep it plugged in, my last mechanic told me the engine is toast and it cant be fixed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is the glow plug relay working? What about the fuel pump?

You might want to lay off the starting fluid too. That combined with glow plugs may dramatically speed up your need for a new engine.....

What drew your mechanic to that conclusion? Was the truck running pretty well before your changes?

Did you gap the plugs correctly?

J/k, apologies to my diesel junky brethren.

Any number of wires could be disturbed during that install, make sure everything is hooked up. In addition to the above good suggestions, disconnect the fuel heater harness and check make sure the fuse for it is ok. It also powers the PCM. Leave the harness disconnected for now, just to eliminate it as a suspect.

There are two threads on this, the OP indicated that he couldn't find the first one after he lit it up and started a second one. Both are getting some attention, could a moderator merge them to make it better and easier for all?

Oh I have two posts on this sorry about that.

Thanks for all your responses, I will surely be making note of all these.
@Cookie88 - I doubt he looked at the relay as yet, I just recommended this to him on Friday he said he would take a look at it this week. But I decided to send the truck to a new guy so once there I will have these checked and keep you in the loop.

@Rikster - I think he said that because he says when he cranks it he hears a "pinging" sound coming from the engine. To be honest I don't think he even looked at it thoroughly which is why I'm sending it to a different guy. he believes that with new GPS and battery it should start. So i think he gave up on my truck. I just bought it a month ago I only drove it twice.

@aawlberninf350 - I will make sure to have the new guy check those stuff.

Thank you all again, once it gets to the new guy I will have these things checked n keep you all posted.

I wish I could look at all these suggestions myself, but it is way too cold outside to do it.

How was the vehicle running before you replaced all these parts? Was this routine maintenance or were you having a no start and started putting these parts on to try and fix it?
