To answer my own question... I don't know.

Pre-52, definitely dark green. 53-55, maybe dark blue. 56? Red.


Mine was originally meadow mist green, repainted meadow green at the factory, then it was repainted red during a spruce up by the original owners.

Didn't have any trouble with red till I went to figure out the interior...

So you re telling us, your truck was painted twice at the factory? I wonder why?

 

Let me tell you about red Ford trucks. I collect Ford Truck Clues. I would say 90% of the trucks on the cover are red. This applies to the Clues from 53 to 56.

The Ford ad guys or the Clues editors liked red or were pushing red.

 

Went back and forth for years, Maroon with gold flake, blues or greens until We parked next to a newer truck painted this color. A Teal Metallic.


Of course, if I had seen some of the nicely redone Meadow Green (original color) trucks here, I might have changed my mind!

My favourite truck colour changes nearly every other day but I said black. So,... I just keep on sanding and blocking like I'm afflicted with obsessive compulsive disorder.

 

I voted for green. Mine is going to be winter green, The same that my dad had his painted back in 1974 after we fixed it up.

 

My understanding is they wanted a meadow green one, and repainted what was on hand. The interior was repainted, the outside, not under the hood though or the very bottom of the lower valance.

I don't have any paper work for this, just what the PO mentioned.

Brown the only one with no votes. I dunno, a rusting brown has it's own appeal...



(Might have been a different color once, but it's brown now)

 

The Grandson and I were always partial to Blue, but Cherry Red would be our next choice.
