Okay, my vote for gray/grey is clearly a minority opinion. My project '52 will be its original Woodsmoke Gray. But I have two others, both '51s, that are originally Silvertone Gray. I love the color, but for the life of me it's blue. This is a file pic, not mine. Stu

I like that alot, your right about not seeing that color very often but its a good one.

Having the grill the original color and black bumper just does it for me.

The light silvers and grey. Etc two tones do look nice as well.

No picture yet. Merely my opinion. I like original colors just to me more of a purist. But if you are changing from an original color, I also like darker colors on these trucks. The body shapes of these trucks benefits darker colors. The curves of the fenders, hood, etc. creat lot of light changes and reflections with darker colors. If you are considering anything other than a solid color, the curves also create a lot of color changes ("flopp") as they say in the paint industry. Of course, with darker colors that means the body work must be better as well.

Some as-yet-undetermined shade of green

Still trying to figure out what the original green was on the 49 Merc - but it is the same color I remember from my youth so it is a favorite.

Aquatone Blue...it's an original 55 color and I like the antique-ish tone that it presents.

Haha, my wife's an art teacher, can you tell?

The red does catch folk's attention.
But the '49 I'm working on will most likely be Meadow Green.

Stu , I like that color too. And it does look blueish to me.

Is there a difference between woodsmoke gray and Silvertone gray?

Also, is there a difference between banner blue and Sheridan blue? And what years did Ford use which blue?

Woodsmoke Gray is unmistakably gray. Not really very pleasing, but it's original. Again this is a file picture.

Best I can tell Sheridan Blue was 1948 to 1954, and I find a Banner Blue paint chart for 1955. Looks similar to Sheridan Blue, maybe more metallic. Don't know how many years it was used. Stu

Heck, why not. I'll take this opportunity to repost my favorite picture of a Meadow Green. Thanks to Bob Jones for the gif. Maybe I should ask if Bob can make it into a '51. Then it'll be like my avatar truck. Stu

Bob, even put the Marmon Herrington emblem on the hood! He is the best!
