Exhaust cutouts location?
Hey guys I have a 1970 f100 reg cab short bed with a swapped 460 mild build, I have long tube headers with a dual 3 inch straight pipe exhaust mufflers dumping right before the rear axle. I'm looking to put dmh electric exhaust cutouts on the truck. Not sure where the best place to put the cutouts for sound quality. After the header? Dead center between header and muffler ? Or just before the muffler?

Is your goal infractions, CO poisoning or hearing loss?
Right after the headers makes the most sense installation wise. You should figure out a support for the pipe and cutout there, as this will add to the weight on the headers which could contribute to leaks, popped welds etc. However, they might end up hanging too low there.
CO & noise in the cab wise, you would put them back just ahead of the mufflers.
Depending on space available and being able to secure them and not reduce ground clearance, that location might be preferred.
