Ford Excursion 01/2005 6.0 4x4 fault
When we turn the 4x4 on, we can hear a sound of engaging from the transfer case. However, the hubs are not engaging. The PVH solenoid doesn't make a sound. Also, we did a grounding test for the PVH plug as it was suggested in the repair instructions. It did not made a sound. The plug did receive a 12 volts.
However, as we are trying to follow the instructions, we are not able to find 4x4 WD module. Where it is located on this Ford Excursion made in January 2005? We searched behind the glove box compartment but couldn't find it.
Where are the relays for the 4x4? Fuses we did find.
Any suggestions?

Does the vents change by them selves when you change it from 2x4 to 4x4, if so,you have a vacuum leak someplace. The switch you maybe looking for is on the passenger side fender in the middle. It most likely the hub seals are leaking. Locking the hubs manually will put it into 4x4 operation.

We are looking for the 4x4 Control Module. Do you mean passenger side "fender in the middle", a location in the cabin or under the hood? Sorry for being
Has the location or system changed in pre-2005 and in the later versions of Ford Excursions? This is Excursion 6.0 Limited.
Thanks for the answer!

No, the vents do not change. If I understand correctly, we don't have the possibility of locking the hubs manually.

Or do you just have aftermarket rims with a center cap that is covering them up?

I had a similar issue last winter. Had the front end rebuilt 2 years ago including new hubs and seals. 4WD would not engage. Replaced the ESOF valve and changed the two relays. Fixed for a couple of days but then went Tango Uniform again. Pulled the dash 4WD switch out and pulled it apart. It was sticking. Cleaned the 10 year old grease out and put some fresh lite grease on it and it works great.
If you have a brake bleeder hand vacuum pump, you can determine if you have a vacuum leak by connecting the pump to the ESOF valve hose that goes to the hubs. If you cannot hold a vacuum, then the hub seals will need to be replaced. Not a hard job to do.

Thanks for the advice! You were right, there were manual heads for changing the 4X4 to AUTO and to LOCK them manually. We have had this car for a few months now and half of it under the repair so it is not very familiar to us yet
We ordered the Vacuum Control PVH Solenoid and try replacing it first. We'll try of the leaks as well.
Where are the relays? Only one even close to it was Powertrain relay but that isn't it, is it?
I'll let you know if I get it fixed. My PVH will arrive 18th January onwards.
