I have a 87 BII. I am having a problem with the A/C- Heater blower. It dies down considerably at idle and does not move air as I feel it should when operating at road speeds. My point of comparsion is my father's 89 Ford truck. The blower on his truck is near hurricane strength on high. Is the blower going bad? If not. are there aftermarket blowers or stock blowers that provide more air movement. Thanks to all and any who can help me.
There are lots of things it could be, alternator not charging well, a bad resistor pack, aging motor, yadda yadda.
But. Before you go pulling parts, take the blower motor out and check it out. I've seen many complaints about low airflow and often the fan is full of junk. Leaves, candy wrappers, dog hair, it's amazing what can get in there. While you have it out, you can test it on straight 12 volts. It should try to jump out of your hand when turned on and spin nice and strong.
Worth a look, and it will cost nothing except some time.
