1995 PSD cranky but no starty...

I am sure this has been answered 1000 times but we all have to get our turn...right? Been a lurker here off an on for a while, love it!

Working with a 1995 F350 7.3 PSD Auto 226,xxx miles

Truck is not my daily driver anymore just a once in a while but decided to drive it yesterday to work. Cold start this morning and worked just fine then to visit mom and dad now won't start (sat about an hour). Has gotten colder here in Ohio but the truck was still warm when tried to start it up. Wait light comes on, seems to crank faster than normal, tach is not moving so I replaced to Cam Sensor with the Navistar version (replaced it around 175,xxx miles too). Still does not start, tach does not move and no smoke. All fuses look good and the wiring to the cam sensor appears intact. Nothing else significant while driving it, fired just fine around 19*this am not plugged in and drove 5 miles here. Any thoughts? Hate to think the PCM... Any help is greatly appreciated (especially that which I have already used to get me to this point)

Thanks Chad

Have you tried following the no start flow chart?

Any way to monitor data on your truck? How is your oil level?

Oil is full, HPOP resivour is full. I followed the flow chart best I could with my limited tools. Also played musical chairs with the relays a couple times.

I have no way to monitor for codes. It did act like it wanted to start with a quick squirt of starting fluid.

Might just be the IPR O rings need to be changed. No smoke? What is your fuel pressure when your cranking the engine over?

No smoke. I did unplug the ICP with no change. I do not have a fuel pressure guage to test. First thing tomorrow will be clean the FPR per flow chart and new fuel filter, maybe some kerosene in the tank/filter bowl. The tach not moving has me scratching my head though.

Did you check fuse 22 under the hood? Your IDM might be bad. I doubt its your PCM but you never know.

And just a word of caution, don't use ether unless you have disabled the glowplug system. Taking the GPR terminals off would disable the system. If you spray with hot glow plugs, you might get a fireball back into your intake box and blow the whole thing apart.

Finally got the fuel pressure checked (thanks autozone tool rental) and builds up to 40 or so psi while cranking the engine. ICP has power.

Checking the IPR is on the list for tomorrow. Test the injectors. Then going to steal a friends IDM to try if all is well there.

Found some good info here: » 7.3L Powerstroke Tech Info

Also got some good schematics from the library.
