A lean condition is what I was starting to think as well. Just not enough fuel to make the power it needs.

On that note, have you replaced your fuel filters? There's generally one that screws into the carb and one back near the gas tank (mine was along the frame). If those are getting plugged, you won't be getting the fuel you need.

I learned quite a bit about that 1bbl carb when I first got it, and then finally learned that it needed to go. It's just not big enough for that engine, and especially with headers and 35" tires, it's really limiting you.

Don't forget about that can on top of his fuel pump. That's a cartridge type fuel filter. You unscrew the can and then replace the filter.

I have been away from the forum, so am late regarding this post. Remember that back on post #4, I mentioned that unless the speedometer has been calibrated for the larger tires, the speedometer would be slow by about 17.45%... well, that would mean that @ 2300 RPMs, instead of the indicated 65 mph, the truck would be approaching 76 mph. There is a great deal of aerodynamic drag at that speed! Have you checked the speed using GPS or another vehicle running with the truck?

I knew the speedo was off. GPS puts it at around 5-6 MPH. I figured that out on my long trip to go get some parts off Craigslist. It did better than I thought it would on the interstate. Which was surprising since I have since discovered that the lower passenger ball joint is broken.....bummer. Especially since I just had all that torn apart to replace the u joints. How do I richen up that 1 barrel carb? Its supposed to warm up this week a little but 3-11s means nothing will get done. Thanks for your replies.
