Door window lift channel rubber seal

Is this any thing specific to the vehicle or can any work glass installation?

I bought new window materials from DC to replace my rotten window channels, anti-rattle kit, spring etc but didn't see this on their site.

Can this stuff be bought locally? You need it for the window pane to stay in the lift channel.

Yes, same stuff that holds the vent window into its retainer.

I did an Advanced Search on

Username: NumberDummy

Keywords: glass tape

Came up with these 13 threads where he has mentioned it before. Should be something your local glass shop has, assuming you have a local glass shop. It can also be ordered online. It comes in different widths so make sure you get something wide enough to hold, but not too wide that it sticks out a bunch on the sides.

I hope that is somewhat helpful.

Window channel shown as 21458 in pic.

Above you will see # = use bulk glass tape, available from auto glass shops.

Thanks. Didn't know it was called tape. It looked like a preformed seal.

Ran down to a glass shop and talked to them. The owner gave me a few feet of butl rubber for free. Said if it didn't work then glue in with 3m stuff. Also mentioned that if I ever got a broken window that heat would help release the glass from the glue. .

I'm going to try the butl rubber strips in the AM.
