Great news indeed Rich, looking forward to the details on how to transfer the PID's. Maybe this will get me off my **** and I will get TP configured on my new phone.

My master plan is to "share" the phone GPS to the tablet, then use Waze on the big screen when traveling far from home. I don't need to be told where to go, but I like the travel information.
I don't always need to be told where to go either but I have gotten to where I use mapping all the time to get around traffic. Been using Google Maps though but thinking about Waze, how to you like it? Is it a giant improvement over GM?

I always know the road ahead, even if I've never been there before. When driving afar, I "rehearse" key turns in the trip by using Google Earth Pro street view. I have maps in the cab, and charts in the boat - and I haven't used GPS products since 2004... not even when I drove through New Zealand in 2011.

Now... my wife got an Android phone a few years ago and she recently downloaded Waze because she likes the idea of knowing the road ahead and how far we had to go. I liked how Waze would provide live data submitted by drivers ahead of us, so one eyebrow lifted above the "gotta get it" threshold.

Fast-forward a year, and the wife and I both upgraded to Pixel 2 phones - which run a hell of a lot cooler with Waze active and staying charged on the USB C PD ports in the cab. I used Waze on my own phone for the first time during a trip over a route that I know better than the DOT. I was warned of trooper locations, two accidents, stalled vehicles, and one traffic backup - all within plenty of time to react accordingly and safely. Since I slowed for an upcoming backup at a gradual pace, so did all the traffic behind me. This is a handy tool to avoid panic stops and rear-enders - whether you use Waze or somebody in front of you does. I would actually dub this a safety app - better than the radar on my boat.

There might be another app out there that's better, or not... but I know this thing almost never misses, and that hints at its popularity. The more people use this, the more powerful it becomes as a group app.

WAZE is a great resource, not only for looking out for law enforcement, but other traffic trends/incidents that you may be headed for. It is only as good as the users allow it to be though.

I have rearranged my display and tested it for a few days - it's a keeper. My loving wife gave me a monster project this weekend (bless her heart), and it pretty much gobbled up my time. This is the same woman who tolerated my misadventures with Stinky and thoroughly enjoys traveling cross country in him... so I gleefully oblique to the other project. I plan to pick up the lost time and work on it this evening.

Flu epidemic and winter storms notwithstanding, I am actually working on this. I have a few more little tweaks to make, then I can share everything shareable on Torque.

However... I told my wife that a pile I moved from storage, to my desk, to a box next to my desk would be cleared by Sunday. She said "I'll bet you $100 that box of junk will still be around after Sunday."

"Does that mean I get $100 if I clear it on schedule?"

"No," she said... "You just lose a hundred bucks if that box is still in here with all that stuff."

That's not a bet... that's a fine.

Sounds like a conversation I would have with my wife.

Take your time Rich, we all understand your busy and will be grateful for your efforts when you provide the completed product. You are saving us (and have saved us) a silly amount of time.
