Morning all. Interesting to see the different temps. Being in the uplands we've been warmer than most of you. 38 this morning when I left for work. Been breezy so temp isn't as cold. Lowest I've seen is 29.

Good evening Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Just getting home a little bit ago. What a flipping disaster of a day. Wouldn't have believed it if we hadn't gone through it.
Wife's health insurance is going up $1944.00 for 2018 and switching to exclusive 'in network' coverage only which drops / excludes her Cardiac Specialist of nearly 20 years and kept her alive for open heart surgery in 2005. Something like 17% of the increase is due to the Oregon Sales Tax on Health Insurance and Providers so they can pay for.....
Since there is no 'network' out of state, there is no coverage. There is also no coverage in broad swaths of Oregon.
Needless to say we had to go to the Insurance Agent and change her insurance. Fortunately we found one that covers the Heart Specialist. Costs an additional $7 per month which means the insurance is going up by $2028 for 2018.
Then we stopped by the Tax Accountant to try and figure out why we are getting letters from the Oregon Department of Revenue on the MIL's estate.
Well, after our accountant and us spent an hour on the phone with the "tax man" we discovered:
Seems that when we filed the estate taxes and papers and the documents for my wife being the executor of the estate, all of the paperwork, including the MIL's death certificate, ended up in my wife's file and they marked her file as deceased.
Supposed to be getting straightened out, but could take up to 4 months to get everything corrected. In the meantime we are supposed to pay a little over $300 in interest on a principal tax owed of $00.00, that if the MIL is dead and my wife is alive, we DON'T owe???
You just can't make this stuff up!
I've been noticing that down here on the river bottom at 200 feet ASL, we've been 5 to 10 degrees colder than 1800 feet up Rye Mtn. above us at the NOAH station.

- My MIL is no longer dead, has been resurrected (and it isn't even Easter) and in fact is alive and a tax cheat! (Walking Dead?)
- My wife is dead and we need a POA from her (remember she is dead!) in order for them to talk to us about her...
