My 68 Lwb to Swb project build

My project has started prior to seeing this forum.

The build goal is to convert my dads 68 ranger long bed to a short bed.
I will definitely need some help along the way.

Here some pics so far

Nice looking truck. Was the grille in it replaced at some point? Reason why I ask is because the grille in that truck is from a '69 Ranger.

I see the F100 has already been converted to front discs.

I'm not sure about that, I do know it's a 68 for sure. I will check into grill. There is no telling what my dad did to it over the years. The truck has been in my family since 72'

Looking forward to your build. Is the plan to use the frame beside it and get a Short box or just cut down the long box?

That Cab stand is the best I've seen.

I bought the short bed along with frame. The short frame is in some of the pictures. I had it blasted and epoxy painted. Was going to paint frame myself but couldn't pass up the deal the sand blast company offered. I'm not doing the body or paint work either. I don't have the means or ability to be honest. I'm fortunate this truck spent most of its life in Texas. I moved to the east coast in 2004 and brought truck up in 2005. I rebuilt the engine, trans and put front discs on in 2012. Now I'm diving back in to make more changes

The cab stand took a while to build. I added gussets for support the other night. I built it a little over kill, so I could transfer cab on trailer safely to paint shop.

I built one very similar to from metal tubing and locking casters for my cab and it does indeed make it easy to move around. Especially when I took it to have it Media Blasted.

Looks like a good start for your build.

Cab and doors are off to paint and body shop. I am going to replace dash pad, any recommendations on who to buy from? Dennis carpenter? Made a little progress on old frame, hopefully to have it out of shop this weekend.

Looks good so far, Your not going to be able to use your spring packs. The ones you have on the original frame are ez-ride shackles, they should measure 56" from center to center. You will need standard spring pack shackles. The springs will measure 52" center to center.
