hard to put gas in my 2006 E250

Welcome to FTE, tim54!
I have the same issue with my 2006 E-450. It's a diesel, so the fuel foams up a bit more than gas does. It depends on the station, but sometimes I have to stand there and nurse the fuel in for over 10 minutes. It's pretty tedious, and I often give up well before my tank is full.
As far as a cure, there is a procedure called "harpooning". The fuel filler tube extends well down into the tank. I think both gas and diesel Fords use the same fuel tanks, but its more common to harpoon a diesel than a gas fuel tank. This extension causes foam to travel back up the filler hose at a lower tank level than if it dropped into an open tank. Cutting off the PVC vent hose even with the top of the tank can be done with the tank on the ground, using the access port the fuel pump goes in to get a blade in and cut the plastic vent hose extension. I've heard it seems to help, but I'm only going to do it if I have additional reasons to drop the fuel tank.
