f. disc brake conv./V-6 Auto trans. swap
I'm restoring/hot rodding a '61 Econoline truck. I want to convert to disc brakes up front. No kits available. Only available for Early F-100 spindles. Question # 1: Is there an alternative spindle that bolts to the Econoline axle to do a conversion? Item # 2: I want to relocate further towards the rear a late model Ranger 3.0 V-6 motor & auto transmission. Any mounting kits available? Or is a 240 i.l. 6 cyl. the better way to go. (I really would like to move the motor rearward though!!) Item # 3: My 144 c.i. six cyl. motor requires a large ratio rear end; with a more powerful motor, I'd like to put a higher ratio rear end in it for lower rpm's at cruising speed. Suggestions?

there are a few disc brake kits available for the econos. and as far as an engine swap kit, i only know of one person that makes a replacement crossmember for the econos. go to www.oldeconolines@yahoogroups.com and post your questions there. they will be able to answer your questions better than i can. look in my gallery, i have a pic of my econo truck there.
