So, as we are planning our move to full time in the next few years we came to a question.

On the travel maps that get filled in, do you fill in the applicable state as you travel through it, or is the qualifier that you must stay at least one night in the state?

For reference, I am talking about a map similar to the one below.

 

Just my opinion which doesn't mean much, just ask the wife, if you don't spend the night you weren't there.

 

Normally it's states that you have spent a night in. In our case we would have it filled but we didn't spend a night in RI because there are very few CG and my cousin lived right across the border in Connecticut so we stayed at their house and we spent most of the time in RI so we consider it a state well visited.

in the 80's we had a plate of the USA.. attached it to back of motorcycle.. and glued on little glass gems... for each state we slept one or more nights at..
as it was assumed.. you rode there...

RV's no idea.

 

Everybody does it different. We count only when we parked and stayed the night in the RV.

 

On the motorcycle it means I rode in that state, but on the camper it means I used the camper (slept) in that state.

It's your map though, do whatever pleases the wife.

 

For the RV map, it's only filled in when we camp there. We have another item that gets every state we visit or drive through added to it.

 

I just have this playing on my outside speakers!!!
