Ok I have a 600 cfm Holley that I have replaced the vacuume diaphragm in. Something is telling me it isn't right. It looks like it is pulled down into the bowel like the old one was. The stems are the same length. Am I doing something wrong here. It was just a simple replacement.
The vacuum secondary diaphragm when installed correctly should look like a blown up inner tube, facing up as you hold it, and facing the spring and spring cover.
Yup when I install the rubber diaphragm into the housing it looks like that. Put it all back together and hook the rod up to the secondary throttle plate and it gets pulled down into the housing and the secondaries are still closed . I am starting to think that the rod is too short.
Once you tighten the cover screws and release the rod, the diaphragm will be pushed down by the spring. Do the secondaries open as they should? If they do ,you got it right.
That picture looks how it looks relaxed. When you put it all together with the spring on top you have to push up on the rod to maintain that shape while you insert and tighten 4 screws. Then when you let go, the spring pushes it down.
