1989 F250 Turn Signal Switch

1989 F250 Turn Signal Switch
I just installed a Turn Signal Switch on my 1989 F250. The Turn Signals now work correctly. But my Lt Rear turn signal runs continually with the KEY ON and with the KEY OFF either the Lt Rear or Rt Front turn signal are activated. I believe the wiring is correct--according to the original.
I am thinking it is a defective unit--unless one of you have another thought. Thanks, in advance, for any thoughts. Philv

E7TZ-13341-B .. T/S Switch-Use with tilt wheel / Marked on paper tag looped onto the wires: E7TA-13B302-BA / Available from Ford.
MSRP: $133.82 / autonationfordwhitebearlake.com price: $88.32.
Applications: 1987/91 F150/350 & Bronco (Econoline is different).
The easiest way to replace these switches is to cut the colored wires off an inch above the connector. Then tape a long heavy piece of string to the wires and pull the switch from the column.
When installing the new switch, tape the wires together, tie the string to them and pull the string from the bottom of the column, the wires will feed down without binding up.
And...then you'll know which colored wire goes where.

Interesting and good to hear it was defective vs something else going awry.
That said, I wish I would have checked this thread again before I started working on my turn signal again. It would have saved me some pain.
Instead of cutting the harness on the switch and just running it through the small hole in the column, I took the column apart to keep the wires intact. That decision is a pain in my butt just for the headache that the tilt spring is to re-install.

Well, the good news is my turn signal is in fact fixed. I paid a mechanic friend to fix that + a few other things on the truck. The old signal switch was in fact toast. My friend fixed the ignition cylinder problem I was having (newest installed part by me had broken so was under warranty as a part) and covered this.
I now have signals & hazard lights functioning when & how they should.
