Don't shoot me!
OK I have a wild question for everybody. When I'm towing my boat I get about 9.5 miles per gallon in my 96 F-250. I'm thinking about making some of these tows with no air filter installed and raw air going to the motor. I know what you're thinking… I would only do this when the conditions are crystal clear and there is no dust, haze. Has anyone ever tried this insane idea and did it work?

You should make a giant Ram-Air system to cover the whole front end. This will increase your MPG, HP and Torque at least 22%. And without an air filter, your engine will be worn out after your first tow.
Just kidding!
I saw a freshly rebuilt diesel tractor engine get worn out in less than 2 hours with just a small crack in the air intake tube. Leave the air filter in and make sure that you're not drawing in unfiltered air.
