I bought one through Jegs, supposed to be good for 450 HP so I should have no worries with the little amount of pony's I have..
So far I've been averaging 17.5 mpg so should gain a few more after the switch is made. Do you think the 3.73 gears in the rear should be changed to something else..

JEGS 603405: AOD Performance Transmission | JEGS

This is the one I got along with a Lokar dip stick and TV cable and torque converter, yoke and an shift fork to adapt my shift lever to work with the AOD

Unfortunately I'll have to get another drive shaft made. My C-6 had a long tailshaft and this one has a short one. but it would have been short a couple inches anyway if the AOD had the longer shaft..so looks like another $600 out of pocket..

I couldn't find a transmission shop up here that had one they could rebuild for me, they all required me to bring them one.. They were quoting me somewhere around $2500 but no in stone. Jegs had them so said send it...lol

Finished swapping the rear axle in my dad's 51 from a Spicer 44 with 4.27 gears to a Ford 9" with 3.00 gears. Now the flathead can reach the speed limit comfortably! Much more pleasant to drive the truck now.
