This looks like it could use a bump. If I can get my rebuilt engine broken in without discovering any new disqualifying issues, I'm thinking seriously about making the trip and meeting some of the people that make the FTE forum so special. Kentucky is closer to me than I thought. It looks to be about 650 miles and maybe 15 hours drive time going slow on the back roads. It's not going to be the epic cross country adventure that first got my attention, but still a long enough drive for an old truck and an even older driver.
If I'm still in Michigan, and I can get enough reliable miles on the truck by then, I think I'm gonna try to make the trip down there. About 5.5 hours or so. Made the trip down there a couple times working at Kentucky truck.
hopping to have the 53 pick up done , frame and drive train is done , cab and front clip near paint stage , have taken a break , to get some other things done , will get back at her next week .
If my rebuilt engine fires next week without any leaks or horrible noises, I'm picking up the phone and making a reservation. I've got the route all planned.

Well between you and me, I'm thinking the same thing after several hour or more practice runs with no issues. But don't tell my wife yet. I've got my route from PA mapped out too. But mine will be a late decision. About 9 hours, 500 miles.

Don't let your wife know about how much fun you will have, Abe. I went to the first two TS events by myself. My dear wife saw the pictures and heard my tales of adventure and she said that I was having too much fun by myself. She has attended the last three TS events and plans for this year.
My wife also stayed home for the first two , But has attended all the rest . Last year she even became the head cook . It is a event that a family can enjoy , we have had children and grand children show up , and even had mini reunions where family members from different parts of the country meet at Truck stock . A very relaxing weekend with friends you have never met .
The people at TS are so nice they even let me show up in the beast! Then they let it be in the pictures!! If you want to meet some of the nicest people, enjoy some great stories and just have fun you better show up.
