What is everyone doing with their old tires?

With a lot of new owners out there upgrading their rims and tires, what is everyone doing with their old ones? I know some are getting new sets from the dealer and giving them the old (new) ones. But what about the guys who are putting on the new tires themselves and new rims? Selling them online? What are you getting for them? Storing them in the garage?

Need some insight. I want to upgrade the tires and rims but just curious how much I might expect to get back. My pockets aren't that deep.

My tire shop gave me a 100 bucks a piece for them. This was for tires only. I kept my stock wheels.

I have heard of a couple of guys just giving the new take offs to the dealer. OK if you don't care. My dealer offered $300 for them which is about half what I can get on Craig's list, I hope. That cash will translate into a second spare tire and wheel the same size as the new tires which can be rotated through every 10K miles and extend the life of the whole set, plus give us a second spare to toddle around Alaska with next summer.

I'm going to pack mine with me when I go backpacking so I can burn them for a signal fire in case I get lost.

. . .Well, either that or take the $600 Les Schawb offered me for them when I upgrade to 35/12.5/20 Toyo RT's. . .

I'm looking for new 18" rims and the TPMS (if available) for my on order F-350 shipped to Ogdensburg - 13669. I think $600 USD + UPS ground shipping is a fair offer unless I am way off base. UPS COD or similar payment on delivery. PM me.

Be smart and keep them. Best deal I ever got was I bought a set of take offs from Discount Tire. I bought all 4 brand new tires with the knobbies still on them and had them all mounted for $100. I could not believe they sold them to me for that cheap. In fact I was so doubtful, I asked to personally inspect all 4 of them. Heck they even showed me the truck right there in the bay that they were taking them off of. Still had dealer tags on if from that day. It was like the planets aligned for a cheap deal.
