Hi,
I'm not sure if they are the same from year to year, but my '59 shop manual shows these settings for the 534 SD.........

Dwell contact at idle speed................26 deg. - 28.5 deg.

Initial ignition timing (B.T.D.C.)
With reguar fuel of 85-88 octane.........4 Deg.
With reguar fuel of 88-90 octane.........6 Deg.
With reguar fuel of 90-92 octane.........8 Deg.
With reguar fuel of 92 octane or more, or premium fuel.........10 Deg.

Distributor RPM............................Advance Degrees
400............................................... ......0
600............................................... ......1-2
950............................................... ......5.75-7
1250.............................................. .....9.25 -10.25

1650.............................................. ......12-13.5

*Maximum advance 13.5 Deg.

I was just checking out other forums, usually I'm in the V10 or FE, but I have a Motor's with the '76 534 in it, and some of the specs are different than what Kenny said.

Here's the poop:

Spark Plug: BRF-31
Plug gap: .030
Point gap: .017
Dwell angle: 24-30
Firing order: 15486372
Timing: Non-Calif: 6 BTDC, Calif: 8 BTDC
Hot idle: 550 RPM
Fuel pump pressure: 5-7 lbs.

That's for 1976

If it will help you out any, I posted some tune-up specs in the "gutless 534" thread that may be of some help to you. I just checked and the thread and the post are still there.

In his post, krew said some of his specs showed up differently than what kenny posted. That is somewhat the norm on the older point-type distributors.

If you would get your distibutor tag number--located just below the cap itched in the distributor body and with a 12127 base number--I will be glad to match the tune-up specs with the distributor number for you , if you would like for me to do so.

I recently purchased a 1968 Ford F900 Fire truck with a 534 motor in it. Looking for information on it. Like type of oil to use and so forth. Any help would be great appreciated!

Post 4 above is a good reference. As for oil, can you find out what has been used in it? 15w 40 rotella if you can't find out.
