Ford F150 Lariat Running Boards

Hello Everyone im new ot this board. I just bought a 2016 F150 and I was told by the dealership I could have the auto running boards stay out. I would really like to keep them out in the winter months so the motor wont freeze up in the winter?? Is there any way to do this. It seems that I can deploy the out but once I go over 5KM they go back in. Is there any way to keep them out in the winter mths? Please help. Thanks.

Welcome to FTE!

Does not appear what you seek is possible. Even while in Manual Mode, the running boards will stow when traveling over 5mph. Sorry.

However, if you are concerned about the running boards freezing up, then you can just disable - OFF. They will remain in the UP position for the Winter months...or until you change the setting.

Those are expensive boards. Leaving them down will do more harm than good. Especially if you catch them on something, as they hang lower than the regular step bars. Sell them and buy some lariat step bars that someone took off. They are on Craigslist cheap all the time.

I was looking through the screens the other day and there was a setting for OUT. I think it was the 8" screen.
