Finally found bed bolts

Hey guys, just thought I'd share some interesting info.
I could not find new bed mounting hardware advertised as for my 96 F150 ext cab short box.

I looked at Dorman and found a kit that looked like it might work and it does.

It is pn 924-311, but it is advertised for different year trucks. It includes 8 bolts, captured nuts that slide onto the frame rails and stay put, and washers. The bolt heads have large allen screw fittings so you can install and remove them from inside the box instead of from underneath.

The only minor issue was that the mid bed bolt holes are for square shoulder bolts and you have to force them in or just file a very small amount of the metal away at the flat part of the hole.

Hope this helps.

yes it does

Yes. The bolt is tightened with large allen wrench (don't remember the size) and the nuts stay still (attached to large clips that go on the frame). I tightened mine with my drill/driver and allen wrench attachment. These are EASY to use and FAST.

(No, I don't work for Dorman or have any ownership. )

What truck are they going on? After you install them, could you post your experience as a reply here. I'm interested. Thanks.

I've yet to attach the bed to the frame but I did test fit and took some pictures.

Wow, those look like the same ones I got from Rock auto. My bed is now attached and they work great. They were listed for a "99"+ Super-Duty. They worked great on my "89" F-150. They come 8 to a box but I only needed 6. I will say that in my rush to put the bed on my "99" F-350, I pushed too hard and too soon while trying to run the bolts down with my air ratchet and I cross threaded one of the bolts and nuts. So getting 8 in a box and only needing 6 on the "89" truck bed, I ended up with two spares, of which, one went into my "99" super duty. Win Win! lol.

1994 F350. Not sure on an install date, I'm waiting on a bed from Texas. A guy is down there looking for one to bring back for me. Hopefully he's successful.
