Question Mystery Truck??

I was sitting at the gas station yesterday and as I was getting out of my truck when this ford pickup was pulling out. It looked to be around an early 60s model and looking at some galleries here confirmed that, so I thought you guys might know about this.

Anyway it looked like at least a 3/4 ton because the rear axle looked like a dana 60 but the front axle is the weird one...the diff was on the passenger side which I had never seen before on a ford 4x4. I couldn't make out what kind of axle it was because the guy was leaving but it looked different than the normal D44 or D60 that ford put up front...but that could just be because I am so used to seeing them on the driver side and the new look just confused me.
And second...it was a diesel and I didn't think Ford put diesels in pickups back then
This totally shocked me and I've been wondering about this truck and hoping somebody could shed some light on this truck and tell me if Ford actually made this truck or if somebody just took an old 2x4 pickup and customized it to be a 4x4 diesel.

Mystery Truck??

Well I saw the same truck again and this time I got a better look and the fender badge said
F-100
Twin I-Beam
So I guess it had to be a custom job because that sounds like its advertising an IFS front end.
The rear end is definitely a D60 and it looked like a full floater but he was driving away again so I couldn't tell if it was 5 lugs or 8. I remember reading something a long time ago about how on a few 60s 1/2 tons they actually put F/F 5 lug D60s in the rear so I guess this could be one of those special trucks.
Still wondering about that diesel...I give it another week before I follow him home and ask him.

As for the Twin I-Beam badge,

this puts the truck as a '65 or a '66. This is, indeed a factory badge. Ford was rather proud of that innovation.

I don't think Ford put diesels into pickup chassis trucks...I think you had to go up to at least the F-700 or the cab-over to get a diesel. I could be wrong on this though.

Ford did indeed put diesels in the F-100 to F-250s. Not many, mostly for farm applications, but they were available.

The "Twin I Beam" emblem kinda says maybe the 65-66 body is on some other running gear. It would say "Four Wheel Drive" if it was stock.
