Thanks for sharing senix, the trailer I put a deposit on is a Winnebago scorpion 4014 it measures 44.10" and has a pin weight of 3000 dry weighs 14500 dry and a gross weight of 20,800 with its trippel axel the Winnie engineers have said that the pin weigh will actually reduce 100lbs for every 500 put in the garage . And the water and file tanks are placed stratigicly in the back so the same effect is on those
the truck I ordered a 17 f350 4x4 cc swb Xlt with possible payload of 3600 is going to put me at the max limits . this is why I'm asking for others to share. I live in California, has anyone been pulled over by the weight police?what Do they check ?

I ran SRW work trucks at close to or over weight rating with air bags and the biggest problem was keeping rear tires on the truck, they were also loaded 24/7. What you can expect pulling a trailer that long and heavy with a SRW is rear truck sway even with sway bars and the truck will sag from the weight, that's why I recommend air bags to level it out, when the back of the goes past level weight will transfer to the rear axle from the front so it's very important to keep the truck level when towing.
Yes putting weight behind the trailer axles will reduce the pin weight but you have to be careful not to reduce it to far or you will get trailer sway. You want to keep the pin weight between 15 to 20% of the trailer weight.
Also don't expect on weight being transferred to the front axle because it's a 5th wheel because it doesn't happen in real life.

If you get pulled over they will check your axle weights both truck and trailer your biggest concern is the rear axle on the truck but being pulled over and weighed is rare if it ever happens at all.

I think since the op is looking,I would opt to buy a DRW with the length and the additional payload ability.
Mine is 9650 for the rear axle, Dana says 11K. So I think that would be better suited if we are also truck shopping as well. If you already have the truck you are going to have to experiment with the weights.
