Could I fit an F150 steering wheel to an F350?

This would be a '15/'16 F350 Lariat and probably a 2016 F150 Platinum or whatever the same trim level would be. Alternatively a 2017 F350 steering wheel. The reason is that the switch gear on the '15 uses tiny little unreliable switches. Ford finally got a clue on the '16 F150 and realized that when you are bouncing down our decrepit highways, making switches so small that your finger spans three of them at once is not the most friendly idea. They carried this over to the Superduty for '17.

Of course wheel would have to fit on the column, the wiring would have to mostly match up, and there is the airbag to consider. I'm not sure how I would check this other than to buy the wheel and try it - but maybe somebody here knows.

You would probably need to do some research. Do both use the same clock spring? Do they both use the same steering wheel control module(s)? Are the switches internally the same, i.e., resistor ohms for the right hand switch? And other electrical considerations. I doubt you could get the Platinum heated steering wheel heating to work if the Lariat doesn't have the option.

If you buy a complete Platinum steering wheel with all switches and airbag at a reasonable price, then if might be a realistic and reasonably priced upgrade. If you have to buy it a piece at a time, then it might become very expensive.

I suspect (without investigation) that most of the components between the two trucks are shared. The wheel itself isn't all that expensive at $200 or so. There are many models depending on options, heated or not, adaptive cruise or not. I would try to match up the features (Sync 2, no heat, normal cruise control). The airbag is a separate item, can't find an online price for that but I suspect it costs more that the wheel?

Some online parts suppliers like Tasca allow returns of unused parts. I hate to do that to them, but maybe the way to approach this is to buy the wheel and compare it, if it looks infeasible return it.

Using tasca and ford parts websites, there didn't appear to be any part that interchange between the 16 SD and the 2017 F150

Oh I didn't think any of the part numbers would be the same. That doesn't mean there isn't commonality, or that one could not adapt. It would be an experiment I guess - if no one else has done it first.

Ford does use parts over multiple vehicle product lines. I notice some of the SD part for the steering electrical components were used in the Flex, Explorer and a few other vehicles. Until 2017, there was not much, if anything, shared between the SD and the F150 product lines.

An expensive experiment if they do not give you a refund for installed parts. Hope it works should you attempt it.
