Panel Lights
I appreciate all the help and info I've received off here. So much great knowledge. I have another one. I have no dash panel lights. All my fuses are good and bulbs seem to be ok. I can't see all of them going out at same time. My question is, does the 5v regulator on the back of the dash panel control voltage to the lights also? I heard or read (and not sure about that) they only control the voltage going to the gauges and not the lights. I've seen a schematic on line but that's like looking at a box of coat hangers!!!!!!
Another question is how to properly adjust the electric choke. Mine will not idle until warm. But once it's warm, he purrs!!! Any help is much appreciated.
I have "Cifford" running a lot better. My son named him that. It's RED!!!! Still chasing down a few leaks. One coming from the power steering gear box. I can get a rebuild kit at the local parts house. And the other is coming from in front of the tranny. Get that one later!!!!! Again Thanks!!!

The instrument panel lights are controlled by a rehostat that's part of the headlight switch. It's not unusual for it to fail although it usually results in really dim or flickering lights instead of totally failing. Because Ford used colored caps in the panel, the lights aren't all that bright to begin with. I can't even see mine unless it's kinda dark out.
The 5 volt regulator, which Ford calls the IVR or Instument Voltage Regulator, provides a steady voltage for the gauges so they don't wander as engine speed varies.
I'll leave the choke for others.

If the truck doesn't idle well until warm, its probably got not much to do with the choke. It idling fine when warm sounds to me like the choke is opening just fine. Sounds like you need a full carb tuning, if not a full rebuild. Funny though, tuning is hard and rebuilding is easy, most might assume the opposite. There are great writeups on both if you use the search function.

X2 on ck the headlight switch by rotating it back and forth. All the way clock wise is dim/ off, full counter clockwise and stop at the lock notch is full bright.
Clicking past the lock notch turns on the dome light when the doors are closed.
