Question of the Week: Broken wheel - OEM replacement or new aftermarket set?

Potholes are beginning to crop up with the arrival of the first winter weather, leaving some motorists with wheels damaged badly enough that they wont hold air.

OEM replacement wheels are often very expensive, causing some people to replace all four wheels with aftermarket rollers rather than paying top dollar for one original wheel.

What do you do when you damage an OEM wheel?

Broken wheel replace or aftermarket

The poll didn't leave enough choices. I actually damaged OEM wheel during a snow storm. I looked at both options and actually found OEM wheel on Craigslist and opted to buy a set for the price of an aftermarket wheel.

I've hit plenty of potholes in my time and never had to replace a wheel due to damage. I like to think it's because of my habit of avoiding large diameter wheels and low profile tires. Why pay extra for wheels and tires that are less durable?
