Even in tip top condition it's not gonna feel like a modern vehicle because the master cylinder is fairly small compared to the brakes and the booster is fairly small compared to the master. This will give it a more linear feel in the first part of the pedal travel than most modern vehicles which are basically an on/off switch at the beginning.
Toss on a hydro-boost if you don't like it.
Don't just toss on a bigger master cylinder without modifying anything else. Unless you have other problems that you solve along the way this will makes your brakes worse, not better.
Bleed right to left and rear to front. If the bleeders are seized on the calipers you can crack the banjo bolt instead but it will not be possible to catch and re-use the fluid (which you shouldn't do unless you've drained the brake system and have poured in all new fluid). If the rear bleeders are seized you can do the same trick but it doesn't work as well due to the shape of the cylinder and location of the bleeder. New rear cylinders are also cheap, like under $20 for both if you shop around.

agreed on the above. a hydro-boost system is the best upgrade for the brakes because it includes the larger master cylinder while also getting rod of the vacuum assist booster and expensive vacuum pump.
