Hayden fan clutch-DO NOT USE!

I recently changed out my fan clutch and installed a new Hayden fan clutch ($160). Upon driving my truck I noticed a severe vibration related to engine speed. I had my wife rev the engine while I watched the engine fan disk. As the rpm's came up, the fan began to wobble. I could see the fan clutch wobbling on the stator shaft. I got a replacement Hayden fan clutch. It wobbled and caused a vibration too! So I broke down and bought a Motorcraft fan clutch from Amazon ($244). When I compared the Motorcraft and Hayden fan clutches side by side, you could see the Motorcraft version was better made. I installed the Motorcraft fan clutch and it was smooth as silk, no wobble or vibration. Just for a laugh, I called my local Ford dealer and priced a fan clutch. They wanted over $500 for a fan clutch. Yeah, right!

Thanks for that info. I think I'll be needing a fan clutch soon and was wondering about what to use.

I believe that the OEM fan clutch is made by Hayden. I wonder if you got a counterfeit somehow. I know that there are some counterfeits available for my Freightliner.

good to know - I'm needing one before summer - looks like I'll be saving up for the motorcraft.

Where did you get the Hayden clutch from?

I went thru 2 Hayden fan clutches from a reputable company. I put the Hayden and Motorcraft fan clutches side by side. Definite differences in them. The Motorcraft version appeared to be better constructed (better looking machining on stator, wire harness better constructed, stamped steel center section better made, etc).
