Whoever has the newest truck and puts out the best BBQ spread gets the award.
I really do not think that the Super Duty gets cross-shopped with the Ridgeline.

The pictures of the trucks in the steel forge were spectacular. Unfortunately, the pics of the trucks they used were not the same as the trucks they actually tested.
What was interesting were the performance stats, if they were accurate. According to them, a diesel F-250 Platinum 4x4 hits 0-60mph in 6.9 seconds...which is very fast for this class of truck but especially the heavy trim level. The dually had the best braking, probably a combo of extra tires and the hydroboost. Also interesting was how well the gas 6.2L performed.

Any award conjured up & judged by a media company is nothing more than a ploy for advertising dollars. You'd be hard pressed to find more than 1 person who has EVER bought a truck based on Motor Trend's award of TOTY.

I like to see a true comparison test - for example Super Duty vs RAM vs GM. All the performance stats, plus the subjective info like ride quality, interior comfort / materials / tech, etc.
Pickuptrucks.com special reports or TFL Truck usually comes the closest.

This is great for Ford and SD fans, but it still doesn't change my opinion about tge fine folks at MT, they are all GM guys that go out of their way to trash ford and prop up GM.
Just go back and read that "Rumble in the Rockies" piece from 2011. If that wasn't written by a diehard GM fan than I'm a stuffed turkey.
plus, what kind of a competition was this? How do you put the SD with those other trucks? Makes no sense.
