1979 f350 lariat 4x4
I have a complete body off 100% restored #s matching f350 lariat standard cab. Prior to restoration truck had zero rust. Has the original 400 small block motor. How rare is this truck and what could it be worth if anyone knows? Much appreciated. I'm told in the 73-79 series it's the first last and only year ford offered 4x4 in the f350. Additionally the Marti report declared this vin a 1 of 1 truck. Vin starts with F36.

1979 was the first year that F350's were available with factory installed 4WD
72,674 1979 F350's were assembled, 18.4% had 4WD
F36 = F350 4WD Pickup.

Depending on your location, I don't see it fetching more than $800-$1200. Only because I've got a thing for 79s would I even be interested. But I like to help people out, and could take it off your hands for $1000. But you being way down in Florida, I might need a gas allowance
What is it worth? Since you can't eat it, it's worth exactly what you can get for it

The value is probably less than what you have in the restoration. It's not super rare but definitely sought after by some. So far from what I see it looks like it turned out great.
If I had to guess I'd say you might be in the $12-$15k range for value. I might be off I can't say for sure as it all depends on quality of resto etc.

X2 on it not "number matching", that statement only matters to chebby car and Mustang folks.
ND says 72,674 1979 F350's were assembled, 18.4% had 4WD, so its not that rare or worth a million bucks.
I hope you can get your money back that it looks like you put in to it, but do not count on it.
All back together start at 12 and come down as much as you can stand to loose.
Personally I would get it finished up and drive the hell outa that truck, it looks very nice.

Of course a VIN is a "one of one". That's obvious.
... and with very few exceptions like K-Code Mustangs, the term "Numbers Matching" is bullshiite with regards to Fords. The closest a restoration will get is to be "period correct" with in terms of date-coded body stamps, engineering/part numbers, and options that could have been ordered based on its build date.
It's worth whatever someone will pay for it.

got it thanks all, what I was trying to relay in regards to #s matching was the correct tran, motor, etc which came back on Marti report. Not intending on selling it was just curious bc I was trying to get a baseline on its value for the Hag. Insurence policy that will be written. My only source is what complete restos are being listed for on the sites and obviously what they are fetching. Ive not seen one (real) F350 completely restored for sale but all of the 250s that are done are all listed in the 30k range. Also one last question, folks that are into these Hi boy trucks how important is it that they retain the passenger side tool box in the outer bedside panel? Thanks again.

Ah we got it now, I would take what it cost to the restoration, include initial truck purchase price to that and then + that up by standard inflation rates. And then try to figure out what it would cost to completely replace the truck. And use that # for the insurance amount. FYI you can never have enough.
Also as far as that type of insurance (classic auto) make sure you ask questions like allowable mileage annually, are there any parking and storage requirements. Like a open driveway, lockable garage?
Again personally if I owned it I would have to make it a DD and I would also insure the heck outa it amount wise.

Wrong.
Some Ford engines did have the VIN number stamped into them.
If that is not "numbers matching" what would you call it?
I have TWO BBF's with the VIN's stamped on the back of them.
As for the OP's question as it relates to insurance - replacement value...like $30k or more based on the pictures I am seeing.
Black paint with that quality is not cheap.
