I'm pretty sure the tranny is what broke the shaft. On the street th jump from 1st to 3rd was really hard on it. I could hear the motor mounts jumping around and the tires spun ,not chirped, with every shift. My brotherin law wanted me to start in 3rd but I didn't know if I could get on top of the turbo enough to take off. He was probably right becuase when the shift happened the convert locked about the same time and the Truck bucked and broke the shaft at 90 feet. The shaft actually broke right where I thought it would.. when I cut the spindles off to fix the race seats you could feel a ridge inside where it was squeezed and on the shaft you could see metal on it from the spindle making contact. I buffed the metal old the shaft and smoothed it out. In the pictures you can see the buffed spot. If you look at the end of the shaft you can see where it had stress cracks from before.

I got to play today. Pulled the transmission out to fix 2nd gear. Well it needs more than 2nd gear band. Here's the 2nd gear band. You can see that the rivet, you can see how close it got to touching the drum. About a year of abuse on it. 14 or 15 hooks or so and countless hard pulls on the street.

Forward clutches are burnt and so is the direct clutch. There was some aluminum shavings in the pan and I found where they came from. Front clutch apply piston was hitting the corner of the front hub teeth

Here's the old band and the new Kevlar one. The pick is pointing to where the apply piston was hitting

Here's a shot of the input shaft. This is the Omega input from suncoast. It's quite a bit bigger than the stock input. The pump that goes with it it also bigger than the stock setup. All the shafts looked good with no twisting shown so at least the hard parts all appear to be good which is nice because the ole lady probably won't let me spend money on it till after my birthday. But I'll figure a way to get pars to put it together.

What is the partial extra cab for? Going to graft it to the crew cab?

The 4x4 is going to get the extended cab and my 2wd is going to get an extra 2 more doors for a total of 6. I should have gotten it done this summer but I broke my shoulder blade June 3rd so I haven't been to work in 4 months. Sounds like I should have lots of time but doctor appointments and physical therapy and then the kids being out of school time flew by. Plus I'm building a crew cab check for a buddy that takes more time to figure out what to do then actually do it. I just have to keep keeping on.

The 4x4 is the pulling truck? I have a picture of an OBS crew cab with an extra cab grafted on and 6' bed. Pretty cool. Can't wait to see it

Here is a picture of the crew cab with the extra cab grafted on. Might be a little longer than a crew cab long box.

I think I messed up on my transmission part order. I ordered everything from a place in Dallas and it's been a week and I haven't received the tracking info or even a response from an email I sent. Hopefully that place isn't under water or something. I was hoping to get it back together this weekend.
