How can I get some more sound from my 351M?

I have a 79' F250 4x4 with a 351M totally stock, the engine sounds good but I wouldn't mind some extra thunder without being too noisy.

My truck has a single side exit at the moment, it runs on the right side of the undercarriage and has two large sound suppressors... what would you advice to get instead?

Is there any full headers back bolt on exhaust?

headers into dual exhaust would make it louder, maybe straight pipe with no muffler if its legal in your state, or you could run open headers assuming you can in your state. but if you don't want it to loud i'd go with true duals and glasspacks. on a side note if you could bump your compression up it would be louder

Depending on what kind of sound you want...
You might dump the current exhaust, install duals and glasspacks. my 77 has duals from the exhaust manifolds through glasspacks and I love the sound.

or for a different sound, maybe flowmasters...

Could you advice me where to buy a bolt on set for my '79?

Thanks.

I'm not sure where you'd buy a bolt-on kit...I used a local exhaust shop.

You could also talk with the shop guy about the sound you want to achieve. Perhaps listen to a few vehicles in the shop to decide what you really like.

The problem is I live in Spain, and here they don't have a clue about fabricating a good custom exhaust for a classic Ford pickup...

I'm not a big fan of LMC truck, but they offer this:

Does it have headers on it now or stock exhaust manifolds?

If stock then one word one word for better sound "Headers"... a few more words, "inside the frame exit, NO way, No how." Fender well exit and then some header mufflers, done.

Headers-Broncograveyard.com

Stock exhaust manifolds...yes order the LMC exhaust kit and do not risk breaking exhaust manifold bolts off doing the header swap.

Quick, cheap and easy, just sawzall off the "two large sound suppressors" and see what it sounds like. Maybe just put one back on?

A nice glass pack will give it a nice sound.

For stock and manifolds the LMC dual set with glass packs is an easy alternative. I've been running that for a year now on mine. Its a bit on the loud side, but not too bad if you keep your foot off the skinny pedal!

Your stock exhaust manifolds will be fine for just a little more noise. You could go as simple as just changing out the muffler to something like a FLowmaster, glasspack, thrusher, dynamax, etc. And even use your single exhaust pipe, or use a fuller that has one inlet, and two outlets for that dual exhaust look.
Unless you have the funds for a complete set up, and if you do, there's no limit.

You wouldn't happen to be a US service member stationed in Rota, are you? If so, I would be more worried about the sound rules on base. Either way, frame exit headers, 3 inch pipe, and Flowmaster 40s dumping about a foot past the cab.

Nop, I'm not in the army...

Do you mind me asking to post a pick of your truck? I see it has a 4'' lift, can I ask what parts you've used and what rims and rubber you're using?

Thanks a lot.

Thanks for all the inputs, advices and informations.

I think I'll keep my stock manifold and will just change one or the two mufflers with Flowmasters...
