Wow. About all I can say. Just picked up my 2nd new F150 last week. The first was a 2017 XLT 302A equipped. Part of the agreement was they gave me the option of including either tow mirrors or spray in bed liner. I opted for the mirrors. About 24 hours after signing and driving my shiny new truck home I get a text from the salesman stating they can’t get the mirrors or can’t guarentee the functions will work. I’m a few minutes a way and fuming. I had installed tow mirrors (from eBay) on my 2011 with no hitch. Most aftermarket sites state “functions that currentky work in your OEM will work on their mirrors”. Install was simple and everything worked including a surprise puddle lamps.
Knowing this I head to dealer. I sit with the salesman and the service manager and they are telling me that the mirrors will be completely manual with no functionality. I call bs. Tell them when I configure online it states mirrors are a standalone item but allows me to order. No where is there a disclaimer that says functions may/may not work. I told them if I had ordered the mirrors after purchase and had to spend an extra thousand bucks or more to get them to work with at least the functions of the mirrors i currently had. My expectation was they follow through with their commitment, or roll my 2011 back out front and I will go find a dealer with a truck already built. I left with their truck at the time to go discuss with my wife.
Took them about 2 hours to find me a rig- 2018 with a few more options including the tow mirrors. Now we’re looking at 2+ grand more. I let them know this is not going to work. They came back and gave me another thousand trade on my truck, and included the spray in bed liner. After some discussion I agree and commit to take this truck. They had to get the truck from another dealer so we agree to sign new papers on new truck the following morning.
Next day the wife and I go to sign papers on the 2018. We get there and the salesman has found an additional 1000 bucks in incentives. This now makes me very happy. I left with about 4 dollars a month additional payments but with a year newer truck, with navigation, hd trailer package, tow mirrors, and bedliner.
Nit the outcome expected, took 3 days to complete but I’m a happy guy.
