Where did you mount your fuel pressure gauge?

Pretty basic question I know, but I am thinking I really don't need to look at this constantly, so where is the easiest place to mount it? I have gotten the message I need to have one.

Steve, you guys with the automatic trucks have a few more choices to you than use ZF6 owners, but I really like my pillar mount. There are under dash, F650 pods, steering column pods and a set of two that replace the bezel around the instrument cluster.

That being said, I am very glad I bought the 3 gauge pod from RiffRaff and not the 4 gauge pod. I think that the 4 gauge may have interfered with the sun visor, but not sure.

They are not always in my face, but they are there within a fraction of a second for me to see if/when I want to. I put EGT at the top, boost in the middle and FP at the bottom. This enables me to keep an eye on the truck when I am running it up a hill pulling 12K lbs and not have a worry about how it is doing and keeping my eye on the road.

Your truck, your choice, but I really like the pillar mount.

I put mine over my mirror. On the Excursion it is obstructed by the electronic gauge for mileage but you shouldn't have that problem. The fuel pressure gauge is the one in the middle but I moved it to the right side. For me its Pyro - boost - fuel.

This is where we discuss NASA support products - "Depends". Most of my driving is pretty much in the wilderness - no street lights, no house lights, and not a lot of cars (Columbia Gorge and other remote roads). Given that, I have to contend with suicidal deer - I can't drive one direction to or from work without seeing either a carcass or recent "sign" of a deer strike (mess on the road). I've also had two strikes and countless near-misses. I need my night vision more than most drivers, so I placed my gauges where they won't interfere with my deer spotting.

Since I already use my Edge as a monitor I have EGT, Boost, temps, and voltage, I am kinda trying to avoid the appearance in my truck of the pilot's seat in a 767 yet having just one gauge hanging somewhere as an orphan might hurt the poor lil fella's feeling. So I gotta figure out how to avoid upsetting my delicate sensitivities and still monitor my truck and the world around me.

I understand Tugly's comment about night vision as on a long night run I find lots of lights add to my fatigue so I turn off the GPS , etc.

I was hoping someone would come along and say "hey, I really don't think you need to see it all that much so I just ran a mechanical gauge under the hood" but I know better than to go there with this crew. So I just have to think over my options.

Plus, I want a particular look to the gauge I add and finding a gauge and the install kit is quite a hike through the mud. I found the days of walking into the local Pep Boys or whatever is long past. Looks like everything has to be ordered and stuff I like from Auto Meter must have gold in the movement.

Makes me want to just drive the wife's Highlander (just kidding)!

I rocked the f650 dash. Holding 5 gauges..(2)pyros, volts, fp and oil pressure. What's cool is that it's not an eye sore, doesnt draw attention to what motor I have(what a-pillar does) and the fact, it looks stock considering it was a piece from an actual guys truck

As far as single gauge pods, I believe you have the option of the one over the column or the single pillar pod.

I have a fuel pressure gauge in that Autometer single on the column, nice location doesn't block anything. Maybe better for EGT given the prominence. Took a bit of trimming to allow full sweep of the shift lever. And eventually I'll paint the wires black because you can see them thru the shift hole from the passenger side. I also have 3 gauges on the A Pillar and while it's great for eyes on the road I find it blocks a chunk of visibility.

It looks like the Auto Meter kit doesn't include the fitting off the fuel bowl.

Anyone know if if this is the right part? FITTING, ADAPTER, -4AN MALE TO 1/16" NPT MALE, FOR FORD FUEL RAIL.

I think it is

Thanks,

Steve

You may also look at getting a 90 degree elbow due to the small space. This is what I used.

Pressure Port Adapter - 90 deg elbow x 1/8 FNPT for Ford 7.3L (99-03) - GZ-13-002

X2 on this one. Connects to either port on fuel bowl. I am going to run a digital gauge like my pyrometer from Aubrens.
