Would they be significantly better than any of the other more conventional aftermarket heads from sources such as Trick Flow, Edelbrok, Holley, or AFR? That is, will they flow much better (not just quantity, but quality), or will the hemispherical chambers provide much better combustion processes?

Yes to everything....but that kind of benefit comes at a very high price for the average consumer.

The product is for very high end builds. Once you get heads to perform at that level you need a stronger crank, then rods, bigger cam, stronger block, the list goes on.

Costly? Yup. Still, there is a similar product developed for the Chrysler small block, (of all things!), that goes for around $8k. Say Hemi and it means big bucks.

Performance could be spectacular, yet we do not know until someone actually gets their hands on a set of these heads. Will call for special pistons, etc, don't know how support will fall into place and they make some pretty decent wedge heads nowadays. It's not the first time somebody has made a hemi head conversion. Ardun started it way back when and here is a link to a small block ford build using one off billet heads.

Ford Small-block Runs Rare Hemi Heads Designed by Chet Herbert - EngineLabs

I think the clue to the market potential of these heads is in the valve cover sketch. Boss 429 lookalikes anyone? I'll take a set please!

Agree...the hemi's have been around for a very long time....although we can't see what the "new' head really is, a true hemi-design head would produce less hp/tq than just about anything that has been out for the past 10 years or so.......

Ford did DOHC Hemi heads for the small block back in the mid 60's for Indy racing. Nothing new here folks. And to take advantage of the flow, you'd have to spin it to the moon, far beyond the capabilities of the block, crank and rods in the stock engines

EXACTLY!!!

Like the current "semi-hemi" chyrsler heads, "crossflow" would be a more accurate term.....though not near as impressive sounding to some. Personally, "hemi" conjures up itchy bumps on a rectum.

The head pictured reminds me of a closed chambered Cleveland with maybe more valve angle???

A true hemi is a horrible chamber for a streer car on pump gas.

I do have a soft spot for the first generation Chrysler (and Dodge and DeSoto) hemis of the 1950s. But interestingly, the Chrysler corporation in its own performance handbook from back in the '80s recommended going with a modern small block over those early hemis unless the nostalgic looks were what one was after.

Cleveland heads and valve covers make a very nice looking Ford engine.

I guess time will tell if these new Ford heads pan out. It's got to be a tough market to get into, with all the heads already out there.
