94 Ranger-Cranks, but wont start at times
I have a 1994 Ranger, somtimes it will not start. It will crank and engine will turnover.
It will not start.
I have read many posts in this forum but have not found any that match my problem.
The problem only occurs sometimes.
I have kept a careful diary each time it occurs and it never happens the same way each time. It will happen after a rain, during a hot day or even a cool day. It never quits running while I am driving it. I can always drive to where I am going and when I go to get back into it, it sometimes will not start, the engine will crank and turnover but it will not start. It has happend after 20 minutes of off time up to 8 hours of off time.
I know this is a bad problem due to it being intermittent.
Does anyone know where I could get good wirng diagrams, I already have the Haynes book. Wondering if I could find any better ones.
Any help anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks for the Replies.
Here is a little more info,
I have tried to listen for the feul pump and power relays to click. At different times I have heard the feul pump come on and other times it would not run at all. Plus the relays would click and sometimes not click. It has been hard for me to do this myself and listen at the same time that I am turning the key.
I just had it taken to a repair shop and after it was towed to the shop, the mechanic put the key in and it strated right up. Starting think it may be a electrical connection.
I have purchased a new relay and geuss all I can do know is wiat for it to happen again and try some of the other items that everyone has suggested to me.
Repair shop told me to take a plug wire and ground it to metal and look for a spark and then also try shooting ether in the brether intake to determine if it is elecrical or feul problem.
I just had them give it a tune up, plugs, wires, fuel filter, and PVC valve. I did this because it was about 60K miles ago since the last time it was done. Truck runs good and strong for a V6 4.0 Liter.
Just more details, if anyone thinks of anything I should or should not try, please let me know.
Thanks again,
MR

Try replacing the ECC relay, which is close to the fuel pump relay. I had all kinds of problems, replaced many parts, even the computer, all pointed to the fuel pump/ignition. With no codes showing. Even though that relay worked and operated, sometimes it wouldn't let the power through to the computer, keeping the fuel pump and ignition from working, although the engine would crank.
