Do any of you guys know of a common cause of brake light failure? I drive a 2005 F150 Lariat 4X4. When i started the lights flickered until they completely stopped working. To me it seems like a short, is there a specific, common place where a wire is not properly mounted or rubs on something?

It is highly unlikely that it's a "short" as that would result in a blown fuse or smoke or fire. Did you check the fuses for the stop lamps?

Does the 3rd (high) stop lamp work or is it also inoperative?

Do your corner turn signals, both front and rear, work correctly?

Do the running lights work properly?
