Cab mount

Cab mount

Hey guys was wondering if im missing something where the front cab mount meets the cab. Is the cup supposed to sit flush or sit in the pocket that i circled in blue.. or do i need to add a pice of metal

If that is a 53-56 cab you are missing the mounting plates.

It is a 56 and I thought i was missing something...could i just make a patch for that area sicne my cab mount kit came with the cups

I thought that, at least with regard to cab mounts, '53 and "56 were similar. What I'm seeing in your photo is radically different from a '53. Are those channels close to the intersection of the firewall and floor pans stock?

It's not that you are "missing" something...you have an extra crossmember and a modified transmission tunnel opening. Someone has added, for some unknown reason, these sections to your cab.

So i do i proced do i just mount the cups to that k member or do i notch it so the cups sit flush to cab

I am not sure what cab you have there...that crossmember looks like an OEM piece. If you are mounting that cab onto an F100 frame with stock front cab mount wings and cups then you will need cab mounts like these. I imagine that you could modify your cab to use these mounts.
This mounting configuration uses a cab brace on the inside of the cab through which the mounting bolts pass...your cab does no seem to have this setup. Got some pics of the inside of the cab above the front mounts?

I dont have pics of the inside of the cab yet,but from what i have seen it looks pretty standard inside. Did any of the 56 cabs have this crossmember

So i think i will just cut that k member out and tack weld the upper mount cup to the cab,thanks for all the help

Yes it does...my only thought is that somebody put that k member to mount to another frame...

Here is the brace you need to add after trimming that current brace.



This what it looks like below that bracket.

I would only remove as much as necessary of that brace you have.
