Flareside wood & bed refurb, seeking some quick part advice
Hello,
I'm attempting to replace the wooden bed in my 1985 F150. Everything is pretty far gone, so the parts list is getting long. AND, most is available online through MarK or other retailers. But, I just discovered this yesterday and I'm not sure what it's called or who would actually carry a replacement part.
There are these small panels on the very rear bottom of my bed. They are probably 12" x 10" and they are completely rusted through where the top would attach to the bed-walls.
Any idea what they are and who sells replacement parts? I looked on Mar K and do not see them.
Pictures are below, advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
JT

OK, you are not going to be able to purchase those along with the side panels unless you find them in the junk yard or EBAY. Those small parts are just sheet metal and can be made and bent with a brake. Welding is involved of course, so if you are not a welder, you can get a shop to do it. They all liked to rust there.

I didn't see anything there...maybe it didn't go through somehow?

AFAIK, most of the Flareside parts reproduced by Mar-K are for 1953/60 F100's w/a 110" wheelbase. Some of these parts also fit 1961/72 F100's with 114" wheelbase.
The panels shown in the pic as basic part number 112B26 (EOTZ-83112B26-A) are the same right & left for 1980/87 Flareside only. No Ford dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any

I made mine for another project I am working on.
I was on my phone and don't know where you posted it but here goes.
You will need flat sheet metal to make the panels from.
You can use a 2x4 and angle iron as a brake. Clamp the iron to the 2x4 with the sheet between them. Make the bend to the angle iron using a hammer bending the sheet a little at a time till you have the 90* you need.
I was lucky that I have a car trailer with a long run that is flat that I put the 2x4 on top of and clamped it down.

Hi Number Dummy, 112B26 is the under-bed exhaust heat shield, correct?
He's looking for the "filler" or "extender" where the rear of the fiberglass fenders bolt to. (what is circled in his photo)....
These are Factory Tac-welded to the lower lip of the steel sides. I don't believe these are/were ever available separately.... but simply reproduced......

Agree - even if you don't have welding or metalworking skills, use sheet metal and you can make these!
Some may frown upon this but you could probably even attach these with a rivet gun and be fine. Be sure to take your time and paint every surface including any holes you drill if you use rivets... multiple coats and especially mind the edges. I used sheet metal and rivets on my cab filler plates ahead of the steps and they look good but I am watching closely any rust
