What is that plate on front of my 55 F100

9 X 12" steel plate bolted to the front right corner of frame rail and front motor mount cross brace. What is it? Preparing to put new motor in my truck and this part doesn't seem to serve a purpose and might interfere with the new motor.

Thanks. Rick

Probably a home fix for the generator splash shield. Only yblock trucks had the shield
