1977 F-250 Swap Questions...
So, I have fallen to yet another truck build-up. Although, this one is proving to be a little more "difficult" than I bargained for, unlike the others. I have looked for these answers and can't seem to find straight answers anywhere. Please help if you can.
Here is the truck, It came with a 400/C-6, with 4.10s in the 44HD full-time front and 60 rear, with a 203 transfer case. Most of the interior was gutted or destroyed from the previous owner, but the cab, for a northern truck is relatively rust free, hence one of the reasons for it. It also came with a Cummins 6BT, of course missing stuff off of it, another C6 with an 205 married to it and some other odds and ends like new doors from LMC and a new bench seat. I also picked up a second Cummins 6BT on the cheap for most of the parts I was missing off the first and I got a divorced 205 to swap out the 203.
Now the difficult:
I would like to avoid a manual trans and go manual valve body automatic. If I could figure out a way to run the E4OD manually, I would for the OD alone, but since I have a really good C6 laying here and a toasted E4OD that I can steal the gears out of, it is looking like I will go that route and maybe find a cheap gear vendors/laycock and mount that up too.
1. How long is the Gear Vendors unit, short or long, from the front of the adapter to the rear of the yoke? I have heard 26", is that correct for the long version? Reason for asking, I am worried about the length difference obviously.
2. I did ask in another thread about the E4OD and manual control.
3. I know that I will need to make an adapter plate to get the C6 to mate to the 6BT. I am correct in thinking that the C6, which mine had the 400 (335 Series) pattern and it shares the same bolt pattern as the ZF5 and E4OD?
There is loads more I would like to ask, but I will stick with that for now.
