The PS has an emblem on the front door rocker panel area, no emblem in that location fort he 6.2.
82-F100, in my pic above you can see that pintle hitch in action. Mine is adjustable though.

My friend has the 3.73 gears and we both tow a 10k trailer. He averages the same mpg when towing as me and he gets 17 mpg on the highway compared to my abysmal 10 maybe 12 on a good day. There's a reason you don't see too many of these trucks with the 4.30's. Unless your towing really heavy a lot I would stick with the 3.73's.
The 3.73 will yield better MPG's on the highway empty. But...that is about it. The 4.30's should get you better MPG's in the city and towing.

At least my 2012 does. OBTW: yesterday running empty at 72mph at distance of 85 miles...I got 16.4mpg. See signature for SD specs. Now that was exceptional MPG in my opinion, but I get 15.2mpg all the time...at those same parameters.

Those numbers are respectable for the 6.2 and 4.30. Do you run factory size tires on yours?

I am contemplating ordering a 2017 in the future and although I don't tow much of anything, I assumed the 4.30 and the 35" tires I'd immediately install would make it a much more enjoyable driving experience than the 3.73. I've read that mpg may increase slightly with the taller tire also (comparing stock 33's to a true 35), as it effectively reduced a 4.30 ratio to around a 3.96 with the numbers used here....

35" tires on the 6.2 calls for 4.30's. Sounds like you've got it figured out.

Yes...I am still running the OEM tires that came with my SD. Which come in to the equivalent to 33" tires.

The 35" tire with the 4.30's and 6.2L will make a good combo!

its about Fleet average gas mileage... Ford and the sales force recommends 3:73..

Owners that know what they Need for towing, order the 4:30 and give up the 1-2 mpg when NOT towing.

Diesel guys do the same thing...
towing Heavy is all about gearing.. transmission and final drive.

Us OLD folks remember Large trucks with 250 hp and pulling 50,000 pounds. its gearing. and still is.

If your are getting 20" wheels, I would recommend 295/65r20's. The are just slightly taller than a 35x12.50, and slightly narrower, the narrower part will help yield a littler better mileage and you retain E rated 80lbs inflation ability with a high payload. Nitto also makes a 37x11.50r20E that I've kicked around that's 80lbs capacity. I'm going 4.88 gears, which with the 295/65, will put me extremely close to my dads stock 4.30 truck with 245/75r17's. His truck gets better in town mileage than my 3.73 truck that came with the same size tire, and that's where I do 95% of my driving. I don't expect to get as good of mileage as him with the bigger tires, but it tells me that his final gearing is where I want to be, and his truck is much more enjoyable to drive in town.

Changed the oil today, and checked the air filter. I just noticed the air intake for the 2017 6.2 is now in the grill. After all the years of SD's using the fender for an intake, this was pretty cool to see. The new air filter is also a large cylinder type, instead of the traditional flat filter.

Finally!! they went to the way my old 94 IDI was.. was a much better place to pull air then the fender.. we get some water over here in oregon every now and then, and I have pushed water at the headlights in my old pickup and never worried about sucking it into the intake because it was that high.

Rain Desert, what if any suspension mods have you done to your truck? I heard you talking about 3" blocks but I was under the impression that most leveling kits are only 2.5". I've seen a few guys on the 6.7 side level the truck and I really like the way it looks..

All I have done is lower the rear 1.25" via the use of the F250 blocks from a 2016. I still have over 2" of rake. No front lift, and I have run 295/60/20 Nitto Trails, 285/65/20 Nitto G2s and currently running 295/70/18's Michelin Defender's. All have plenty of clearance.

Interesting. I like the relocating of the air intake.

So...was the oil change just as easy on the '17 MY as the '11 thru '16? Any other changes that you might have noticed?

So power wise how would you compare the 2011-2016 6.2 to the 2017 6.2?

Yes same oil change as before. Same filter and 7 qts of 5/30. It was nice that the factory filter wasn't over tight this time. There are just small things I don't like as much and some I like more. The 4x4 shifter is better IMO and you get cup holders down there too.
