I've used Peak Blue DEF the three times I've needed DEF. I've been lucky enough to find it on sale everytime.

I figure as long as it has the API certification & meets the DEF ISO 22241, it's fine.

I've been reading on here about how people have experienced crooks buying the Walmart brand def, using it - then willing the jug w/water and returning it. And walmart in turn puts it back on the shelf...WTF?

I saw those threads but honestly didn't really read them all. Seems crazy to me but I wouldn't put it past people. On the DEF I've purchased, you could tell whether or not the cap had been previously open, but you would need to look. The last time I bought DEF, I did look more closely at the cap.

Speaking of last time, O'Reilly's did have their private label DEF that I was going to buy. It met the certification & the price was pretty cheap. I was literally walking to the cash register when I saw the Peak BlueDEF was on sale for just a tiny bit more. If its on sale & I know I'll need it soon, I'll buy a couple & keep them in the garage.

I use Wal Mart.

And have NEVER experienced any "bad" DEF no matter what state I was in when I bought it. The DEF is a sealed container. If you are unsure, remove the cap prior to purchase to verify it.

I do not find much confidence in the "returned & filled with water" stories that get passed around the net.

I've only used the Motorcraft brand so far. I get a 5 gallon case for just over $23 at one of my dealers, so I just buy it there.

...and Look both ways before crossing the street. It's good common sense.

you can tell if the seal was removed.... no one hard up and stupid enough that would have to fill a jug and re seal it then return it for $8 would be able to reseal it proper... I only use Walmart.. for 100 000 miles so far... not one issue..

Well the motorcraft def in 2.5GA is only $11 so I think I'll go that route.

I am currently running some DEF I bought 3 years ago that has been in the truck took box this whole time. As you know, summer in the South is unbearable at times. It was sealed and no problems. Will run the other 3 containers of this same DEF that have been in the small shed for the last 3 years.

I am thinking "fresh" is not vital as it is purity and no crystals in the bottom of the bottles.

This is strange, my 500 mile warning came on Friday, so I started pouring in the 2.5ga of MC def fluid and the truck only took about 85% of the jug.

Is that normal?
